Our Church’s Journey: A Commitment to fulfill the great comission

At our church, we believe in the power of discipleship and the importance of nurturing deep, transforming relationships. Our worship service takes place every Sunday at 10:00 AM, where we offer programming for children from birth through 5th grade. Our mission is clear: Restoring Relationships with God. We hold dear our values of loving God obediently, loving others sacrificially, and making disciples intentionally. The Bible serves as our final authority, guiding us in all that we do.

Our Mission and Values

Our mission is to restore relationships with God, fostering a community where individuals can grow in their faith and love for one another. We value obedience to God, sacrificial love for others, and intentional discipleship. These principles guide our actions and shape our community, ensuring that we remain focused on our purpose and the teachings of the Bible.

A Brief History of Our Church

In the fall of 2025, a group of over 75 individuals determined that our region has a need of a disciple-making culture. At the time, discipleship.org shared that less than 5% of churches in North America have a true discipleship culture, meaning individuals who are a part of the church family naturally become reproducing followers of Jesus. With a heart to see everyone know Jesus as Lord, it was determined that the best solution for revival in the Appalachians and to the ends of the earth was through a new church focused on the mission of transforming our region through true disciple-making relationships. Our launch team began meeting in December of 2025, and a grand-opening was targeted for March 15, 2026.

We are a non-denominational Christian Church with traditions based in the American Restoration movement. It is referred to as the “Restoration” movement because of her desires to:

  1. Restore the unity of saints – There is one body under the headship of Jesus. We don’t believe that we’re the only Christians, we believe that we’re Christians only.
  2. Restore Biblical Authority – Jesus is the head of the church, and The Bible is our final authority. Where the Scriptures speak, we speak; where the Scriptures are silent, we extend liberty.
  3. Restore The Biblical Model – God’s ways are higher than our ways; His thoughts are higher than our thoughts. Simply put, we endeavor to do Bible things in Bible ways.

Our Beliefs

We believe in one God, creator of all things, infinitely perfect and externally existing in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

We believe Jesus Christ is true God and true man.  Jesus lived a sinless life, died on the cross as a sacrifice for our sins, arose bodily from the grave and ascended to heaven where He is our Advocate.

We believe the ministry of the Holy Spirit is to convict people of sin, regenerate the believing sinner, indwell, instruct, and empower the believer for Godly living and service.

We believe the Bible is the inspired word of God, without error in the original writings, and is the final authority for all Christians.

We believe in God’s saving grace that calls all people to faith, repentance, confession, baptism, and a new life and ministry through the Holy Spirit.

We believe in the bodily resurrection of all humankind: the believer in Christ into everlasting joy, and the unbeliever into everlasting punishment.

Jeremiah & Megan Holcomb

Jeremiah, our church planter/Pastor, graduated from Manhattan Christian College in 2002, with a B.A. in Bible and Pastoral Ministry. Jeremiah and Megan met at Manhattan Christian College and were married in December of 2004. The Lord has crowned their marriage with five sons. In their 21 years married, and Jeremiah’s 24 years of ministry, the Holcombs have enjoyed the opportunities and challenges of ministry from growing struggling churches, to planting new ones. Additionally they continue to navigate the joys and frustrations that have come with adopting three of their sons from the KS foster care system.

The Vine is the second church plant that the Holcombs played a role in starting. In 2015, they moved to Eudora, KS to plant The Refuge Christian Church. After 4 fruitful ministries in KS, the Holcombs moved to West Virginia in September of 2022 to continue their calling and ministry in the Appalachians. Bluefield, WV is home for the Holcombs. Megan is teaching 1st Grade at Glenwood School, and the five Holcomb boys attend Mercer County Schools.
